Got out a little after 2:30, got to the grocery store without too much angst (I have my oysters--YAY!!), and made it home to see Steve putting up his Christmas lights...
It's about 65F outside, and he's in a t-shirt.
Hilarious!
Himself is napping, which is good--that's exactly what he's supposed to be doing, and it keeps him out from under foot.
I'm sitting here planning logistics.
A holiday dinner, especially one that needs to be carried across town (I'm cooking it here and carrying it to Mother and Dad's, because my mother's oven is barely bigger than an EZ Bake, and besides, I know my kitchen), is like a military coup--one must nail down about a hundred details in order for the whole operation to run smoothly.
But it's nice that I don't have work hanging over my head for the next four days.
The sun came out today, for the first time in what seems like a year but which has actually only been about four days, and its arrival was greeted with much squeeing at the window, just as the warm air has been. I know that the warm temperatures put the kibosh on my being able to use the back yard as an extended refrigerator, but I'd still rather have it than not, especially if the sun is out along with it. The warm days are so much more precious in November than they are in any other month except March, and I feel that gratitude to the floor of my soul.
The temperature is supposed to plummet again after tomorrow, but I don't care--I'll be holed up in the house with about 80 pounds of leftovers!
Going to go down now and see about making myself useful....
