The Fun Stuff
We are making an effort to expose Ansel to several languages as early as possible. Macneil knows some Chinese and I know some Spanish (though I am not anywhere near fluent). Mac bought these CDs and we have been playing them a lot. They are really fun!
Spanish

I was surprised to find that a couple of the Spanish songs are pretty morose, though. We won't try to keep Ansel from knowing about death, but does a 0-2 year old need to know about a cat breaking its spine or a rat having its tail cut off? Also, one song narrates the death of a beloved village donkey. This is my only complaint, though. I have really enjoyed learning the songs and verses.
Mac also bought this book:
Little Bitty Baby Learns Greek
I am looking forward to reading it to Ansel and becoming familiar with the Greek alphabet with him.
Finally, the blocks:
Braille, Greek, Russian, Sign Language
Who knows if any of this will enhance his ability to speak languages other than English, but at the very least he will have been exposed to a spirit of enjoyment of language in its many forms.
