I don't know if anyone but me and
iralith is playing Oblivion, but I'm
desperate for help with skeletons.
Skeletons are way too difficult to destroy. I'm not talking about "I have a hard time with them and it's frustrating because sometimes I die." I'm talking about "it takes a solid, non-hyperbolic 5-10 minutes of beating on the things to kill them". And while they are not dangerous enough to be a real threat to me, standing in front of any mob (prerequisite to beating on it) for 5-10 minutes is not the healthiest of activities.
It's good XP - a fight with a single skeleton is enough to raise my basic combat skills (blade, block, and heavy armor) by a point or two each, not to mention the practice I get with Armorer because a 10 minute fight will destroy all my gear. Once someone told me they don't like magic so I tried using Flare around a corner dueling with a ekeleton champion archer and raised my Destruction by like 10 points before it got boring. I'm now an Apprentice of destruction. But it's not fun. I am trying to play a game here, I don't want to spend 10 minutes fighting a single mob.
But at any rate I've got to know why these are so ludicrously difficult to kill. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some secret weakness they have that i'm overlooking? Or some obvious immunity (such as to magic weapons) that I'm missing? Or has one of my mods perhaps inadvertently tweaked their hit points?
I'm ready to just use the console NPC kill cheat code to deal with these assholes because as lame as that is they're just not worth the hassle.
Any better ideas would be extremely welcome at this point though. My best alternative at the moment is just to skip over dungeons that have skeletons in it, and that's a sub-optimal choice given that i've got a quest with some in it now.
As a side note, I'm level 25, Expert in Blade, and it's the high-end skellies - the heroes and particularly the champions - that i have a problem with.
