i had a class like that once. more than once. it sucks. and unfortunately i didn't give a shit about most of my essays. school and i have a love-hate, codependent relationship. just do the bare minimum to pass it. it'll be over pretty soon, right? you are every bit intelligent enough to do that...seriously. *hugs*
ps. i think it's bullshit that academia can't wrap it's paradigm around the fact that life takes precedence over papers and classes. i mean, really. you have to be able to think to be able to write a paper or participate in a class discussion. and if shit's too overwhelming, it doesn't work. but they never understand.

one day, i'm pretty sure. i dunno why. you just belong there, as i think i told you way back:-) ask for the dept head to assign a different person to mark yr paper as you think there's significant bias. basically tell her the stuff you've spilled on here and, if this person is reasonable, they'll accomadate your request. it's an idea.
yr 'alleged' tutor is an ass. he a tutor in the most archaic sense - he admonishes people. and it seems like he's chosen you as his pet. probably because he got torn down so much as a pathetic student and now he has to be a pathetic human being with a meager title. just know he'll never make progress in the ranks of academia, most likely. especially if you get to review his performance at end of term. his absolutely rotten demeanor and lack of professionalism guarentee him a buddhist chair in Academic Hell, along with several of my former prof.s and tutors.
