Knitting and Baby shower

So, after taking session #2 of "Knitting...the Next Step", I realized, I'm really not *that* bad at knitting - it's the class, not me.  This class is *supposed* to be one step above beginner, and before the instructor even shows us how to correct our mistakes (which is listed as part of the curriculum), she's trying to teach us intarsia - a complex and advanced method of using multiple colors of yarn on bobbins to create pictures on your knitting projects (hearts, x's, stars, etc.).  I was like "WTF?"

The day after the class, I called the education manager and explained my situation.  She was very sympathetic and offered me a refund for the last 2 classes.  Now, I'm back to working on my uber-simple scarf, which is currently going much more quickly since I've improved my technique after having gotten help from the yarn shop and Meg's mom.  I think that for now, I'm going to try to learn from books and try a couple of projects on my own, then take a class or schedule a help session at the yarn shop if I'm having issues.   I'd like to try a simple baby hat next, for the new little one.  We'll see how much progress I can make before January.  Now that gardening and election seasons are over, I have less distractions and a lot more time to knit.

Work is painfully boring.  I wish my boss would increase my workload before I go on maternity leave, but at this point, it's looking pretty doubtful.  It will be a very long 7 week (or more)  wait for this baby to arrive!

Sunday my MIL threw me a shower.  It made me happy to see friends & family, and despite feeling ill from a stomach bug (no McDonalds for me for a while), I really enjoyed myself.

Juliet was super fussy tonight because of her flu shot.  I can't really blame her - I remember being pretty tired & under the weather myself the last time I got one.

Well I'm going to go work on my scarf for a while.  I hope everyone out there's having a good week!
