Outbreak Company
Now, this is also crazy wish fulfillment, but it's almost cute in its sheer lameness. It could get annoying fast, but the first episode was pretty okay. The premise is very light novel. Look at that heavy infodump to explain things! Also, reminds me a bit of Kyo Kara Maoh, in the whole "alternate medieval fantasy world needs an ordinary Japanese guy to help 'educate' it."
Couldn't be a Hero, so I got a Job (or whatever it's called)
The opening battle was simply disgusting, with the female hero's terrible armor that covered nothing and got destroyed immediately, lewd body stocking, bouncing everything and gratuitous male gaze shots. This terrible trend continued the entire episode. And... oh man, I thought Outbreak Company was bad about excusing the main character's perverted bullshit, but at least he had the decency to realize it was socially inappropriate. Here... an old man comes in routinely to feel up an employee. This is okay. He's just lonely!
Compared to Hataraku Maou-sama... it's severely lacking. In fact, it's actively terrible. The only part I liked was Fino's "customer service" attempt. The premise is actually not bad. And Fino's cute, but... the execution kills it.
Megane-Bu!
It's like watching Shaft at it's Shaft-y-est. Also, kind of dull. It's almost like it's trying too hard. Also, they're also all perverts obsessed with seeing women naked.
((You know, I think I should stop browsing tumblr. It's making me too sensitive to objectification of women.))
Kill la Kill
I'm not sure what to say. But the art style is pretty cool. I like it. And Matoi is pretty cool and cute.
Gingitsune
......I'm not big on these atmosphere shows. It's nice...? I guess. But where is it going?
Kyokai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)
...The pacing feels weird. For some reason, I'm having trouble getting into any of the characters either. It's like... it's trying to be both cute and creepy, and it's... not really managing either one. The shots and such are often straight out of a horror movie or something, but at the same time, Mirai is being presented as the cute, clumsy thing... It's so weird. On top of that, it's mixing horror and supernatural action, which... doesn't really work either. Part of horror is that the characters are basically helpless in the face of what is hunting them. Think early Supernatural. There were hunting methods, exorcisms, etc, but they were all very limited and very different from something like... Ao no Exorcist. I mean, if I had to say what the atmosphere reminds me of... It's Ghost Hunt. But Ghost Hunt also had the exorcisms failing often, and there was no real combat as such.
(From episode 2, the way that rock appeared after the youmu was defeated was just... lame. It's come out of the youmu. It appeared afterwards. So fake. Also, shut up about the glasses, Akihito. And the rest of you shut up about his being a pervert.)
Arpeggio of Blue Steel
Seeing the quirky crew of the submarine is very strange when done side by side with the normal-looking military people. It's one thing in RWBY, where everyone is weird, or in Outbreak Company, where important people are weird and there is supposed to be this discrepancy anyway, due to different worlds, but here is just... they're too quirky. Those outfits are just dumb. The flashback when Gunzou and everyone wore uniforms was much better. I don't mind that they don't wear uniform in present day, but those outfits are weird and improbable.
Also, the eyes are too widely spaced. It's a little creepy.
