Various Bits, all Firefly
But First...
RANT! Blahr. FRUSTRATED HANNAH IS FRUSTRATED! :( For whatever reason, I just haven't been able to get a whole lot of writing done. I mean... I suppose I've done bits and pieces here and there, but nothing that can actually be used in a story and it hasn't been as high quality as I'd like. Garr. Oh well. I had a good weekend (Zee's party and shopping (WOOLY JACKET OF FUZZY AND AWESOME) and a movie), so! Because I have chemistry out the freakin' nose (OWL=EVIL), I have set most of today aside for school. And, well... Okay, so I'm bad at that, so really it just means I have free time today. So! With luck and a little bit of keyboard-smash, I shall write!
This rant brought to you by jam. And more jam, perhaps.

Can't use this in chapter 4, really can't use in the story at all as it sort of goes a different direction - but I went to the trouble of writing it, so that counts for something

"So," Mal asked, "how'd the outin' go?"
"Fine, I suppose," Simon grumbled. "River talked to one man, but... that came to nothing, and she didn't seem interested in anyone else."
Mal stared at him.
Simon frowned, getting a little uncomfortable at the captain's intent look. "What?"
"Ain't that what you wanted? Her to go out but not find anyone?"
'Damn.' Simon winced. "W-well... Yes, that would be the best possible outcome, I think but - "
"This is about Jayne, ain't it? You want 'er to be happy, I'm sure, but you wouldn't 'a worried 'bout her love life if she hadn't started gettin' closer to Jayne." Mal shook his head and laughed. "You jus' want her to find someone to distract her from him."
A bit shocked at the captain's perceptive reading of the situation, Simon could only nod dumbly. "I... Yes. Yes, that's right. I told you I was worried and I stand by that. I want to... to help introduce her to a man that... that could override any romantic inclinations she may have towards Jayne."
"You ever think o' his feelin', doc? Jayne ain't gonna let nothin' romantical happen unless he wants it to."
"Have you ever watched them together, Mal? Really watched them? They flirt, they find excuses to touch each other, they spend more time together than they do with anyone else. It... I don't understand how I'm the only one to see it."
Mal shook his head. "Wish you had never noticed they was friends - you been harpin' on this ever since." Simon started to speak but the captain held up a hand to interrupt him. "Fine. You want me to watch 'em? I will. But I can just about promise you I ain't gonna see anything."
"Don't say that just yet." Simon sighed. "It's there, I promise - you just have to look for it."

Here's what (very) little I've done for chapter two. Oh, and a link to
chapter one. It follows directly after the end of the first chapter.
Mal and Zoe exchanged glances. The captain cleared his throat and said, “Hello there. ‘M Malcolm Reynolds, captain of Serenity - and this is my first mate Zoe. Understand you’re lookin’ for a ride outta here. Before we go get your friend, maybe we could negotiate a price.”
She shook her head and waved her hand. “We’ll pay whatever you ask. Just… Let us off soon as you can.”
Mal nodded, rather pleased. “Think we got ourselves a deal, then. It just you an’… said his name was Mike?”
“Yes, that’s right. I’m Bonny and he’s Mike - it’s just us.” She sighed and looked down at the ground for a long moment. “We really shouldn’t… If we wait a little longer, maybe we can - “
“You’re not thinkin’ o’ findin’ another ship, are you?” Mal asked worriedly. “I promise, Serenity is as sky-worthy as they come. You just see her, an’ - “
“We’re good people,” Zoe interrupted. “An’ we need the coin. So if you need a ride, it seems like a convenient situation for all if you just come with us.”
Bonny sighed again and squinted, her head tilted up to the ceiling in thought. “Fine,” she said finally. “I guess it would be okay. Or if not okay, it’s at least the best thing we got right now. And we wouldn’t have to stay with y’all for long.”

Here's a bit more of what I have for this fic - and I'm going to finish it eventually, I just don't know exactly when. Blahr. Oh, and I changed some of it from the last bit I had. So yeah. Heh.
He pushed his hips into hers, and they both stilled at how suddenly good that felt.
River moaned and dug nails into his back. “You like that?” he whispered hoarsely. “You like that? Oh girl, that’s right - that feels good, I’m gonna make you feel so ruttin’ good.”
“Strong words,” she said smoothly. Her body tightened beneath him and he knew something - some defining moment - was about to come to pass. “But can you prove them? Man called Jayne.” And with that, she wrenched her knee up and slammed it into his abdomen, right above his groin.
He cried out in pain, and River rolled out from under him right as he collapsed onto the ground. She quickly straddled his back, bony elbows stuck into his shoulders, arms pinned to his side with her knees. “Fuck,” he spat, his torso throbbing. “Girl, that ain’t fair.”
“I do not fight to be fair,” she said. She pushed her elbows in harder and pressed her breasts against his back. “She always fights to win.”
“Don’t see why there can’t be a tie.” His fingers stroked what skin they could reach, dancing along her calves.
She shifted a little to let his arms free and as soon as they were able his hands skated up her thighs. “No, I…” She groaned as the very tips of his fingers slipped under the hem of her shorts. “I must have victory.” Her body was rocking gently against his, shallow back and forth motions that he could just barely feel. It made his blood boil and all he wanted to do was flip her over and tear off her clothes.
“Best watch out, then.”

So that's what I've been working on lately! Sort of. Well mostly. (Heh.) I have more "TENC" bits, but I'll put those up later. And I may try to cobble together a chapter of something together soon. I have more stuff in my notebook (13! whoo! already on page 75) that I still need to go through.
