Well, most of my stuff is moved in! Well, 3/4 of it. I've still got to bring my clothes and bathroom stuff but I needed that this week! The room is just as big if not bigger than I thought it was, which makes me pretty happy. I have enough room for a nice rug in the middle of the bedroom so I can satisfy my need to sit on the floor once in awhile without having to worry about freezing on the tiled flooring.
The house as of right now is an absolute dump. There's furniture everywhere, pots and pans littering the kitchen, and dirt galore. When I go back next week I plan on cleaning it top to bottom and taking over the sun room on the second floor. Right now it's packed full of mattresses, but Pam assures me that by the time everybody is moved in that will all be gone.
Here's hoping!
Anyway, I forgot to bring my camera with me, but my mom had her cell phone so we took pictures on that. The photos are a bit grainy and the colours are quite a bit off, but you will get the gist of it.
That's the stairway up to the attic. It's been refinished (duh) so the stairs are really steep and really narrow. I was a little bitter about this because I couldn't fit a double mattress up these stairs, so I had to make do with whatever fit. I feel sorry for Rachel who lives upstairs with me, though because the roof on the stairs is really really low. I'm only 5'4 and I have to duck, and she's about 6' so the poor girl is going to bonk her head a lot. I guess it will take some getting used to!
This is the view from inside my bedroom looking out into the hallway. I've got a mini fridge in my room, which you will see in the other pictures, but there's a microwave in the hallway for Rachel and I. I thought that was a pretty good idea! Also, that's a coffee table in the corner that I haven't decided where I want to put it yet, but that will happen whenever I decide to officially move in.
It's in the attic. Mostly just to capture the sloping ceiling. Also, that window has a staircase that goes down to the deck in the backyard. Mandatory fire escape that I might use when I feel like avoiding the rest of the people in my house! LOL
Mini fridge and dresser. Enough said.
That desk is MASSIVE, by the way. And my recliner chair beside the desk. Had to put it somewhere! I just wanted a beanbag chair, but after Christmas I'll be switching it out. The recliner is kind of hideous. Then again, so is my rug!!!
The awesome bed. The bedspread was made by my mom and I made the pillows. I thought we did a pretty good job!
I wasn't too excited about going back... I mean, yeah I was glad to be getting out of my parents house and everything, but going back meant leaving home once again and leaving friends behind. I got used to being able to go out whenever I wanted to with whoever I wanted to. I was torn about going back. Now, after goign to see my cousins' apartment (which I am HUGELY jealous of, by the way) and getting my furniture moved into my room I'm excited again. Sure, I've still got some apprehension, but most of that had dissipated and I'm feeling pretty good about it.
Next step: Figure out how the fuck to get my car moving on hills so I can actually drive it next weekend back to Waterloo! Eek!
