I spent the first day of the New Year sleeping. I spent the first six hours of it working in the ICU, and I didn't even notice that it was now 2009 until 0030. When I got home, I went to bed. Oh, and I spent the last six hours of the 1st working as well (we run 6 to 6). Does that mean my entire life is nothing more than work and sleep?

I get to work, just like I work every Christmas because the hospital cannot just tell all the patients 'Sorry, go home, we're closed for Christmas' like other businesses. But also, there is an atmosphere to the hospital at Christmas-time, things are quieter, families are mellower, and there is more candy and cookies at the nurses station than can ( Read more... )
