I miss that man in the picture pretty badly. That's James "Nick" Nixon - one of the most highly underrated bluesmen of our time - at least here in the states. In Europe he's regarded as a god. He played with Jimi Hendrix and taught him a thing or two back in the day. He has a very rich musical history.
I love Nick because he's so good to me. Over the years that I've been involved in the blues scene he's become a dear friend. Sure, he grabs my ass and makes comments about giving him his birthday blowjob, but damnit, no one can help but love this sweet man with the biggest heart in the world.
Every Sunday he's Bayou's sidekick. Whether he's playing or just warming up, the moment I walk in, he kneels down to get his kiss and give me the biggest smile. I think I need to call him this week.
However, tonight I'll climb back into bed with my fluffy Robert B. Parker "Spenser" book and get a few letters and postcards written. While I've been an active Postcardx (www.postcardx.net) memeber for awhile, I'm signed up for postcrossing now and I'd like to give that a try. My mailbox has been empty and lonely and is crying out for some mail.
