3 days until Christmas and where am I? In the most un-Christmasy place I know of....Los Angeles, CA. Surrounded by palm trees, convertibles, cacti, and people who can care less about the meaning of Christmas, traditions, and thinking that picking a tree out of a lot is cool (and not to mention how EXPENSIVE it is).I'm trying to look at the plus side: no snow, no wind, no ice..but at the same time I miss my family.
Work is going pretty well....sometimes I don't feel I'm being challenged enough but I don't know what I can do to challenge myself some more. Hopefully by talking about my "goals" it will help them make sure I'm challenged and busy most of the time. It's kinda hard adjusting to doing some work that you could've done with your eyes closed at school or something that doesn't require much thought. I did kinda do a project on the side the past couple of weeks...a music video type of project comparing the 72 Dolphins to the 07 Patriots... it turned out really well and the 2 Coordinating Producers and one edit coordinator I work with were very impressed by how well it turned out and that I took the initiative to do it myself. It should be airing on the Network on Total Access, GameDay, and possibly Point After any chance they get, until the Patriots lose or go undefeated..which ever comes first. I have to get it into a quicktime project first and then maybe I can post a link where you can watch it. That music video was one of my high points so far here at the Network. I also got to cut the Miami highlight when they won their first game this season, and I guess due to my good work (or just them trying to see how I'd do under pressure) I've been awarded the "big game"--the Miami/Patriots game this week. I'm both excited and nervous as well. Hopefully it turns out well.
I can't wait to go home in July...I want to see if I can also take a drive up to Ithaca during the summer as well...that would be AMAZING! My mom comes out in Feb. and already I'm starting to plan the things we can do. Already have compiled a couple of restaurants to visit and a beach or two to visit.
(totally random side note: Tastykake now makes it possible to order CASES of their stuff to have shipped wherever (tiny bit expensive but um HELLO?! It's Tastykake!)
Anyways...I'm so glad that I have a ton of family and friends who remember me for the holiday. I have gotten SO many Christmas Cards that I've run out of room for them on my book shelf. Thank you SOOOOOO much...makes me feel loved. And for all of you who haven't sent a card, SHAME on YOU..haha JK. I know that friendship and love extends farther than just some paper card with a semi-meaningful statement written on them.
(another random sidenote: There was "frost" on my windshield this morning at 6:30am when I had to leave for work. Yeah you heard me FROST...or something of its relative...it wasn't just dew..it was a semi-solidified version of dew..)
But yeah..that's it..It's late here and I'm tired..plus big day ahead of me. I'll talk to you soon.
Love-
ME!
