I might have mentioned already about the time I had some weird rash things along my arms, inner part, it was due to the water I had been drinking.

We had bought a fancy newfangled water filter thing (Kangen Water) and after seeing a doctor and nobody knowing what went on, I heard that that "Kangen Water" when drinking the water from the max setting (it could dispense alkaline and acidic water. We had set the filter to dispense maximum alkaline water), that the alkaline water would help the body to "purge" all the impurities. The rashes I had was the manifestation of those impurities being washed out.

I took that all with a grain of salt, but then I did stop drinking the alkaline water, instead, I would only drink normal filtered "clean" water from the machine (it's one of the available settings). And indeed, once I drank normal filtered water, my rashes just went away.

I have been reluctant to try this sort of thing because this problem for me has been continuing across Panama/Colombia, Canada and Taiwan. Not to mention trips to Laos and Switzerland. If it was related to something I was eating or drinking, you would think it would stop when exposed to different food or drink. But it hasn't...

On the other hand, things are so much better now than they were 12 months ago. Whatever the main thing was (i think it was scabies) is now solved, so i need to readjust my scale a bit to understand the patterns of this other thing. Maybe the other thing did only happen in Taiwan but i was too irritated by the concurrent itching problem to notice it went away in Europe?

hope your issue gets resolved soon! Miraculously or scientifically or in whatever manner!

You have a great attitude about it. I myself am finding that the suckiest part of aging is that you won't grow out of it.

Could you have developed an auto-immune condition? Those seem to pop up most commonly around middle age. I'd think you'd have other symptoms too, though, like swollen joints or fatigue or pain, and not just very angry skin.

This is the best hypothesis i have right now. Whether it was genetic and somehow coincidentally appeared after turning 40, or whether it is a result of some kind of virus i caught while traveling, it seems that my body is frustratingly slower to heal itself and more prone to getting damaged than it used to be. But it does appear to be mostly a skin thing too. I do suffer from fatigue, but i think that's just because i have a job that exhausts me. I guess this little holiday will be another test case of that aspect.

I am so sorry your skin condition has not gone away. I have no advice about that, alas.

The things you wrote about bodies just getting older and not working as well are, in my experience, true. However, it sounds like your particular body is doing much worse than it should be at your age.

I'm in my mid (late? eek!) 60s and things don't work nearly as well as they did when I was younger, but your physical issues sound worse than mine. Individuals vary, but I think there is more going on with you than just "getting old."

I hope you have a wonderful time on vacation!

My skin is much, much better than it was a year ago, so that's something. What seems to remain is a chronic fragility rather than a specific infection.

I wonder if i should eventually go visit a doctor to talk about hormones. I have essentially been living in post-menopausal state since about age 35 when i gave up on HRT. It was too much hassle to constantly have to justify my existence as a trans person to ignorant doctors and i never really felt like it gave me any benefits after surgery so i just gave up. I have heard that supposedly not having any hormones can be problematic, but i always heard it in the context of osteoporisis and other bone/muscle fragility, neither of which are problems i am encountering.
