Making steady progress on setting up the website update. Mechanically, it’s all in place, I’m just trying to nail the Version 1.0 look down (I’m already disatissified with it - too greyscale) and take care of some other look-related bugs. Turns out the really nifty trick I wanted to do? You can’t do it. Luckily, I think I’ve figured out a way around that.
Ah, Chiariscuro! Without you, my life with be shallow and meaningless!
Right now the blog is titled:
Amul Kumar, Photographer
Cogs turn behind the lens.
Which I have to say, looks pretty stupid, even if it does have my name in it. And, to be frank, my graphics aren’t nearly as steam-punk as I’d like them to be, since I’m completely incapable of drawing (although…..) Any suggestions for a better one?
So, what can you expect to see in the All New Amul-Dot-Biz website? I’ve implemented
Word Press blogging to handle the entire text-side of the site, and upgraded to the latest version of Bill Wadman’s
Photofolio for the galleries, while trying to integrate the look & feel of the two halves more smoothly.
I’ve also organized the site into what is hopefully more coherent categories - Fine Art, Organizations, and Personal services for the galleries. Everything else is navigable through the News/Blog sidebar.
The last thing for me to figure out is the layout of the navigation sidebar. Obviously, I want the sticky-pages on top (Contact Info, FAQs, Major News Items). But do I want the links directly beneath that, or the archive stuff? Both are going to be pretty substantial - to the point where I’m already assuming I’ll somebody have to upgrade to a three-column layout (and I’m already debating if links go on the left and archives on the right, or vice versa).
