“Nee,” Madoka tugged on Shizuka’s sleeve as the two girls passed by the bus stop. “that old woman is always sitting there by herself.”

Shizuka looked over her shoulder to look at the old woman her friend was talking about. Under the shed of the bus stop was an old frail woman, sitting down, patiently waiting. Her snow white hair was tiwed up in a bun at the back of her head neatly and she sat straight and upfront as if she was waiting for someone.

“Eh?” Shizuka started to notice as well. As long as she could remember, even as kids, the old woman would always be sitting there every single day no matter what the weather was. Even though it was blazing hot or freezing, that old woman would always sit by the stop and wait all day until the bus to pass.

“Madoka,” Shizuka tugged at her friend sleeve. “Let’s go, or we’ll be late to class.” Shizuka said pulling her friend along.

“C-Chotto!” Madoka yelped, trying to catch up with her friend. Shizuka glanced back at the old lady.

‘When will she, ever stop..?’

---

“Happy Birthday!” arms wrapped around Shizuka’s neck lovingly from behind as Madoka put a cake in front of her on her desk. Shizuka smiled, knowing the only person who would be idiotic to do such a thing.

“Yuya,” she turned around, only to find herself nose-to-nose to the owner of those arms. “Arigato.” She whispered as she blushed, smiling when she realized how close their faces were. Yuya smiled back, happy that she was smiling. Today was her day and he wanted to make her the happiest girl ever.

“Don’t mention it.” He said, gently pecking her lips with his. Shizuka smiled within that short kiss, knowing he was hers and that he wasn’t going anywhere. And he, what made him happy the most was the fact that she would always be smiling in his arms. The alone made him feel complete.

“Ne, you both should stop doing that in public.” Madoka hit the back of Yuya’s head lightly with her notebook. Yuya winced slightly, making Shizuka chuckle.

“What’s your problem? I love her.” Yuya complained to the bespectacled friend. Madoka pushed her glasses backsince it was on the brink of her nose.

“You guys are too lovey-dovey in public.” Madoka answered back. Yuya stuck his tongue out as a reply.

“Yuya,” Shizuka reprimanded hitting him lightly on the head. He just turned to her and smiled.

“Make a wish my princess.” He smiled, pertaining to the small cake with  a single candle resting on her desk. Shizuka smiled and closed her eyes for a second, wishing the one thing she had been wishing ever since she met him.

‘I wish we’d be together, forever.’

And with that, she blew the candles.

---

She never thought that one day, she would be sitting here. It wasn’t in her plans and she had never foreseen it. It was like any other day, Shizuka was now walking to the bus station. For the past three years she had been doing this, awaiting for the return of her loved one.

‘I just have to visit my brother. I’ll be back tonight.’ He said that fateful morning. He assured her that with a warm loving smile as he embraced her tightly in his arms.

But, he did not return.

And for the past three years, Shizuka waited, and waited, and waited, every day at the bus stop, waiting for his return.

---

“What’s your name?”

“T-Takaki Yuya…”

“How old are you?”

“I don’t know…”

“Where do you come from?”

“I… I don’t know.”

“Is there anything you can remember?”

“H-Hai, a girl named Nakayama Shizuka.”

“What is your relation to Ms. Nakayama?”

“I,.. I love her…”
