“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”
-Buddha quotes (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)
“In a controversy, the instant we feel anger, we have already ceased striving for truth and have begun striving for ourselves”
-Abraham J. Heschel quotes (Jewish theologian and philosopher, 1907-1972)
I agree that anger makes us do stupid things. Sometimes we do or say things just to lash out, without an understanding of the topic at hand. Feelings so often get in the way. In my case, all I ever have are feelings. I can count all the people I know who will tell me the truth on one hand. It's sad. I don't have a real family and the family I do have can't seem to peace with each other. So here I am, left in the middle with no understanding and am therefore clouded by my feelings.
"The heart is more deceitful than all else
And is desperately sick;
Who can understand it?
The Bible, NAS, Jeremiah 17, Verse 9
I can't understand my own heart and I am angry for things left unsaid. I need someone to talk to.
