With the general "batten down the hatches! Snows acomin'" hysteria in town today I'm not surprised that they've already canceled school for tomorrow. We are New Englanders why do we constantly freak out every time a storm approaches?? Not a single flurry has fallen and already my niece is planning her sledding trip tomorrow. Kids today.
I also got to thinking about all those mornings back in Albany when we would wait with baited breath to hear Albany Public Schools announced on the news. Towns and districts like Ichabod Crane or Berne-Knox-Westerlo (I still have no idea where either of those places are) would fold right away. To add to our suffering we would turn on the TV and the scrolling names would be in the Cs so we would have to wait for the whole list to come back around to the As. Or we'd catch our breath as we heard Albany...only for it to be Albany Academy for Boys/Girls. As long as CDTA was running school was open. Let's forget about the walkers. Especially the walkers with working parents who wouldn't be able to drive them instead of having to trudge through the snow. Uphill.
I suppose it was one of the downsides of living in a city. Good times.
