I'm not a parent but...

If my 9/10 year old child gets locked out on the second floor balcony off the laundry room, bangs on the door for 5 minutes without anyone helping her and then has to climb down the dinky fire escape ladder, run around the building through the snow and mud - in her socks - in order to ring the bell I probably wouldn't start screaming at her and berating her for getting herself into trouble in the first place.

Seriously? You don't console her after what must have been a scary experience? Instead you scream at her for being a child and wanting to see if it was still snowing? You yell - not tell - yell at her to change her clothes before she brings you the laundry basket? No, it was the brightest thing for her to do but fucking hell you are not helping anything by blaming her without any show of concern.

I really fucking hate listening to my neighbors.
