I Can SEE!

So, yeah, finally back at school after missing a couple days to drive to Boston for my tri monthly eye doctor's appointment. A nice vacation, but not as cool as when I had to fly across the Atlantic from France. Yeah, my doctor's just that special. Anyways, the good news is:

I can read the third line on the chart! WOOT!

You know what I'm talking ( Read more... )

Oh, wow. I had no idea your eyesight was that bad. But it is improving! That is something, right?

Yeah, pretty bad. To think that until I was seven or so I thought everyone saw this way: as if their entire left eye was blank (not even darkness, I can feel it, but it doesn't do anything) and a near sighted right I with no peripherals (think looking through half a toilet paper tube ( ... )

Well, that's okay. Talking about things helps usually. Or so I have heard... I have a friend from high school who has a huge list of problems with her eyes and things, but you wouldn't really guess to look at her. She's very independent, except when it comes to getting around. I have bad eyesight, but I just have to remember that it could always be worse, much worse. Far worse. I can almost text without my glasses, if I squint hard enough. Don't know why I do that, though... kind of silly.

And if you hadn't guessed from my rambling, yes, it is one am, and no, I cannot sleep.

2:15 here. This is turning into a bad habit . . . but I totally don't care.

Yeah, in the summer I go to what can only be described as "blind camp" and being one of the most sighted people there is strangely exhilarating. Getting around I just suffer the consequences if independence. Yes, I consider dependency on a stick a bad thing.

Oddly, without my glasses holding the book 1cm from my face I can read 2mm high text. Must be all that practice from guessing letters far away, which are what my glasses are for.

Yay! I didn't know you had eyesight issues, but good to hear you had some improvement! I have a friend who either has to use this weird magnifying glass thing or lean in really close to read stuff, I feel like an asshole whenever I forget this fact.

Yup, your friend sounds like me. I can't read unless the book is an inch away from my face. Sometimes my friends forget and will often exclaim in frustration "What are you BLIND?" By which I will then stare at them until they blush and apologize. I HATE the magnifiers with an intense passion so I mostly strain my eyes out of habit.
