Look, a monkey!

I quote from Harold's blog:

So... when I'm reading a story to the girls--particularly one that I've read many times--I'll often swap out a word for some other word. For example, I might replace some random animal with "isopod". Well, this evening, I was reading "Caps for Sale", a fine story about a cap peddler who wanders out of town, and has his caps stolen by monkeys in a tree. Since monkeys feature prominently in the story, I decided to substitute "monkey" for "cap".
Mostly, this went fairly well. Rebecca kept correcting me from "monkey" to "cap". Michelle seems to have finally gotten the joke, and was giggling and correcting me from "cap" back to "monkey". Then I got to the key point in the story, when the peddler prepares for his nap. I read:

And he sat down very slowly under the tree and leaned back little by little against the tree-trunk so as not to disturb the monkeys ("caps!" yells Rebecca) on his head.
Then he put up his hand to feel if they were straight.

I laughed very hard, and kept laughing again sporadically over about the next hour.
