Home from Disney once again, and I've completely caught the running bug!
Disney, of course, puts the "magic" touches on their races just like anything else... the
Expedition Everest Challenge was fantastic and pretty damn unique! Since it was Everest, they had "hosts" out in SKI SUITS and PARKAS...IN FLORIDA...IN SEPTEMBER. I did not envy those people, but it was a good show. When the race started, there were (of course) fireworks. DJs were scattered throughout the course to keep us pumped up (headphones were forbidden according to the rules, but I saw plenty of folks with them), and after we finished the 5k, obstacle course and (absurdly easy) scavenger hunt, we even got free food (a Disney first, even if it was just a Powerade, a banana, and a bagel).
The best thing was that we had Everest, Kali, and Dinoland to ourselves...Everest at night is a hell of an experience, I'll tell ya that right now. Highly recommended, folks! (Photos haven't been posted by the photogs, yet, but as soon as they are I'll get some up here)
ausiewanab, I'm already thinking about the
Princess 5k in March!!
