It'sa very sad day at my home!!!
Today we had our dog put down because of kidney failure. I know everyone thinks it's just a dog, but he was like a family member. He's been with me for 12 years and he was like our first baby. One day he just showed up at our house. We think someone dropped him off. But, we think someone dropped him off. Just a few days before my other dog had been hit by a car on 223 and so when he came I was so excited and of course Tyler couldn't tell me no to keeping him. So in April of 1995 he became a part of our family. He has been our companion through everything Tyler and I have gone through in the last 12 years, our wedding, G's birth, Bethie's death, Andy's death, our move to the new house, Ash's birth, and everything else we've done. I remember bringing Ash home from the hospital and he slept under her crib the first night and every night after. He even slept there last night. She was so excited to get up and find him in her room. She told me she thought he'd sleep with me and was glad he'd chosen her room for his last place to sleep.
This was such a hard decision to make. If it was just Tyler and I it probably wouldn't have been such a difficult decision. It just hurts so bad to lose Bubba and then to see my children hurting so bad because they're losing their Bubba. So, the last few days have been very sad around our house! Ash knew how many more days she had with him and everyday would say how many more days. She got up at 6:00 a.m. to see him and feed him toast crust, it was something him and I did every morning when I ate breakfast.
We've decided we can talk about him anytime we want to remember him, but we love him too much to watch him suffer so we had to let him go.
Besides that, we're taking a much needed vacation next week to Traverse City. I am looking forward to getting away from the house. G has started football. This year it's tackle and he is enjoying it very much! Ash will go back to dance in 3 weeks and she is very much looking forward to that.
