Well, I've come home sick from work. I suppose I have some sort of stomach bug since I wasn't the first to leave work today. I suppose this is as good a time as any to get back into posting.
The past two weekends Michael and I have gone to the Unitarian Universalist church here. In case you don't know anything about it, here's a small except from the Wiki page:
Unitarian Universalism is a religion characterized by support for a "free and responsible search for
truth and
meaning." Unitarian Universalists do not share a
creed; rather, they are unified by their shared search for
spiritual growth and by the belief that an individual's theology is a result of that search and not obedience to an authoritative requirement. Unitarian Universalists draw on many different
theological sources and have a wide range of
beliefs and practices.
We've both really enjoyed the experience so far. The feeling of a real want for unity, peace, and the acceptance that permeates the community is pretty great. We plan to continue going. Hopefully it'll stay enjoyable.
I'll be going to Austin with my sisters in a couple weeks to look for centerpieces for the wedding. I guess it's going to be a sisters only thing. Michael's a bit bothered by it, understandably so, imo. My sisters said he can't go, which seems odd considering it's not just my wedding, it's our wedding. After talking to my mother about it (I'm going to assume my sisters feel the same or similar) it seems they think this whole wedding business is essentially a "girls only" sort of thing, which is weird, being that he's half of the wedding. My family feels he's just sort of there to tell me yes to whatever I want to do in the wedding. So, to not cause a big stir over it the current plan is to just have him tell me his opinion and it flows out through me. Not negating my own, of course. Partly it seems they think I should be able to make the decision on my own, and if it were something just for me I'd understand that, but it's not. Anyway, the centerpiece idea we're working on we've both talked about anyway and enjoy. Michael will be playing Smash Bros. that weekend instead. At least he'll be doing something fun. It'll be nice to be with just my sisters. Hopefully, haha. I haven't done much of that ever, actually.
Taiko turned five September 2nd! I can't believe he's already five. Wow. We bought him a squeaky plush bone. He's been laying with it a lot lately, so I suppose he likes it. :D
Here's a picture of him with his new bone:
He's a bit sleepy.
Well, my stomach isn't feeling any better, so I guess I'm going to go lie down and see if that helps any.
