I'd been meaning to post this for a little while, but I'm glad I waited til after seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Movies
+The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Oh. Em. Gee. This movie was WONDERFUL. I'd heard it was long (three hours) and complaints of how there was no plot to make it worth a full three hours but screw that! I think every scene was worth something and wouldn't have been there unless necessary (lolz, the screenwriter in me). I'm sure you know the premise, Brad Pitt stars as a man that ages in reverse. I really don't want to give ANYTHING away, but he falls in love with someone (who ages normally) and it's amazing...although maybe a little disturbing and a WHOLE LOT of sad at the end of the movie. Through out the entire film I kept thinking of how much it reminds me of The Notebook and Forrest Gump. A few times during the movie my eyes welled up. It's just an all-around great movie that I would totally pay to see again and am thinking about buying on DVD eventually, lol. So yay to you Brad Pitt, job well done! 5/5.
T/V
+ The Tudors -- Second Season. I watched the first season and really enjoyed it, but when I saw the first episode of the second season I was like "...I don't know...", but with nothing else to do and nothing else to watch this past week, I sat down and watched the whole season on Showtime OnDemand. It did start off boring but once Anne Boleyn started trying to have an heir things got interesting. Her downfall and the rise of Jane Seymour was probably the best part of the season. The costumes are beautimous, and Anne Boleyn was a fierce bish...until she lost her head. I could have done with A LOT more Charles Brandon (Henry Cavill) though--I loved Henry Cavill since The Count of Monte Cristo...hmmm, I should watch that today... Tudors, you get a 3/5 and I'm being nice, lol.
+Flight of the Concords. So I saw a few posts about this show on ONTD where everyone was like, "ZOMG, this show is amazing!" and was bored enough to try it. It's based off the actual lives of the two leads, Jemaine and Bret, who are New Zealanders trying to get their break in the U.S. At first I was thrown by the two main lead's blase-ness and monotone...but then Jemaine broke into song, and I was like WHAAAAAAA? Instead of using a voice over or the characters just saying what they feel, their inner thoughts are displayed through song and/or music video and OMG it's hilarious. I decided to stick with it, and the show just kept getting better. Each episode is 25-27 mins and features two or three songs, and they're done in the style of all sorts of genres. I also learned to really like the blase-ness of the characters. This show is ridiculous, but in a good way! 4/5. DEFINITELY tuning in for the second season.
Check these vids out from the episodes, you will lol in real life :):
