Shigure sat there, smoking a cigarette. The acidy taste lingered on his tongue. It was the best thing about cigarettes - the taste.
But today he wasn't focusing on that taste. He was thinking of Akito. The choices he had made pertaining to the woman were nothing short of hard. She had hurt him, ripping out his heart the night she slept with Kureno, but he had gotten payback.
The choice to get his payback was actually almost too much. He had lost the most important person in his life for one night with her mother.
It should have been Akito.

Tohru curled closer to Kyo, feeling his heat wrap around her body. It was exhilarating to be embraced by him, to be enveloped in his heat without the consequences of him changing into a cute, orange cat.
She missed that cat. It was true. It had been part of him, and she had accepted it like she had accepted any part of him.
But she wouldn't trade a lifetime like this for a moment with that cat again. He still carried the cat in his heart; she saw it staring back at her when she looked in his loving eyes.

He came closer, cupping her face with the palm of his hand, but not hugging her. His body hummed with the need to feel her in his arms, but he couldn't risk it. Not yet anyway. He'd feel her body pressed against his soon, pulling him into the abyss that was the affection stirring in his chest when he looked at her.
He wanted so much to brush her lips against his; he wanted nothing more than to know if she felt the same way he did. "Machi," he breathed the girl's name, leaning forward but not touching her anymore.

She leaned the side of her face into his hand, relishing in the warm feeling that radiated from it and the smooth feeling of his skin. She closed her eyes.
The moment he said her name, she opened her eyes, searching his again. The purple orbs hadn't changed. "Yuki," she breathed his name in a reply.
