BRAAAAAAINS
1. happy birthday to unovis_lj and lastrega !
2. OMFG I used to be so good about avoiding spoilers but SPN has ruined me. Uh. Just watched one of the preview clips for next week and nearly started yelling. I only just held back, because that would have scared the cats.
3. I liked this week's spn ep though I don't have many deep thoughts about it. As I was saying to jadefire88 , it's something when this ep was only slightly less depressing than the last two eps.
Dean's exhaustion when they're discussing Death ("Must be a Thursday"). Dean looking down into the empty clawed up casket OH GOD. BOBBBBY. I've seen a couple people mention that they don't care about Bobby's pain, and... yeah, to each her own and all that, I guess. I love Bobby to death and he nearly had me in tears. Dean's WE'RE HIS FAMILY. Sam got to be a badass (again!) and yet his insistence on asking everyone if they're gonna be okay in situations where clearly no one is okay was kind of making me want to slap him and then give him a hug because, oh Sammy. And at the pyre at Bobby's, when Sam asks again and Dean sends him this look, like JFC SAMMY NO ONE IS OKAY STOP ASKING.
Whether you liked this ep or not may have had to do with how much you love zombies eating people. I love zombies, so plus. I was surprised that the ep did take the plunge into straight BRAAAAINS zombiehood but the image of Dean and Bobby backed into a closet without ammo kind of made up for any seconds thoughts I might have had. Also, kickass lady sheriff for the win.
4. It is my day off and it is cold and rainy outside boo hiss. But maybe this will inspire me to finish the second essay. I've got it about half written.
It's interesting to me that I realized after posting that the first essay might be taken by people to be John bashing, and I kind of hate the tendency in fandom to assume that if you're questioning or critiquing the actions of a character, it is the same as bashing that character. I love John as a character, he's a great, complex character, but he's a great character precisely because of his flaws. And god knows Dean is my fave, and I'm going to question the hell out of him eventually. But I guess John is a fandom hot spot. THERE ARE SO MANY OF THEM, GUYS. I just get frustrated because I'm interested in having these conversations but it seems like battle lines have already long ago been drawn. Oh well, that's the risk of joining an existing fandom I guess.
