I love Big Pink! Dazzleland is my fave, though, because the angst just kills me and it has more of a focus on Sam and Dean than Red does. Did you read the third one in the series? Actually, I think there might be four that are part of that 'verse.
I have a terrible weakness for hooker!Dean as well, though usually in the larger context of Wincest (dunno if you're into that) - many of my fic recs are for hooker!Dean fics.
Oh god, Dazzleland does kill me. It is superb. I just have a weird attachment to Red because it was one of the first SPN fics I ever read, and I love the Wolf, who is entirely creepy.
But yeah, Dazzleland broke me into pieces by the end.
Yeah, there are four major stories. I did like the John and Dean one, but it kind of felt too long to me.
I'm not into wincest, just can't do it. But I have a terrible attachment to hooker!dean if it's done well, because it's all too plausible. And I know that Ackles made a comment about it, and now it's hard to unsee.
i know! A new fandom has been good for me, because I was getting dangerously edgy about badfic in IM. I've managed to not click on any for months, even to giggle at, and this can't be anything but a good thing for my mental health.
I only just started reading IM fic last year, so I've been reading all of the great stuff that's been recced back in 2008. It's been great, but I'm eagerly awaiting for new IM fic. And in the meantime, I've been reading, and re-reading your fic :D Update soon! Poke!
thanks!! I was hit with a terrible case of writer's block back in the fall, and feel like maybe i'm just starting to pull out of it. Writer's paralysis was more like it.
I am in a serious excited delirium over IM II! I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to it. I'm kinda scaring myself [g] I need to find people to squee about it with.
Haven't seen Alice yet, but was mentioning to Nin that I hadn't seen a single post on my f'list about it, which couldn't be a good sign.
I was sooo disappointed in Alice! It had potential in the story, it really did, and yet somehow the life was sucked out of it, which was just so odd for a Tim Burton flick. I did like the actress who played Alice, same as I like the actress who was in The Golden Compass, but in both cases somehow the movies just fell flat.
Which makes me want to go re-read The Golden Compass.
I'm dying of excitement for Iron Man. I'm back to the pavlovian response every time the preview comes on tv, where I drop everything, even conversation, and turn to stare.
Have you read "Of Bastard Saints" and "1300 Days" yet? Sadly, Sam/ Dean squicks me like nothing else, but there are so few really amazing long SPN gen fics (besides big_pink's, which are the best!)
I felt the same way about Alice. I mean, it was good to see a movie that was more or less driven by female characters that didn't make it a Big Deal, but... yeah. I was just a little bored. I kept trying to be swept away and not quite making it.
IM2! I haven't been watching all of the trailers, because trailers end up raising my expectations of the movie way too high. Still, I'm REALLY excited. *g*
