1. Chuck continues to bore and/or disappoint me in season two. Sigh. WE GET IT. THEY HAVE UST. ahem.

2. Saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D today with my brother, and was massively bored. You'd think this movie would have been tailor made for me, what with Tim Burton and a heroic Alice who fights in armor with a sword. But instead I was bored. It was more fun to listen to the people behind me who sounded like maybe they'd never seen/read any Alice stories. ROCKINGHORSEFLIES! GET IT! Which reminds me of the girl who shouted out during The Dark Knight that OMG HARVEY DENT IS TWO FACE. I kind of love my local theater for this reason. There are too few coming-of-age fantasy adventures centering around a heroine, and yet the last two I've seen (The Golden Compass and Alice) have disappointed me. It wasn't even worth it for the visuals, which felt overly computer-processed, like a bad video game.

3. Seriously, as far as I can tell from the previews, there are no movies worth seeing until Iron Man 2. Favreau, you are going to clean up when this baby comes out. I've squeed to the hive, but I don't think I've mentioned it here: THE SUITCASE. HOW DID THEY MAKE THAT EVEN REMOTELY COOL? HOW?

4. So for anyone interested who hasn't already read these, I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I have been re-reading the epic SPN fic of big_pink.  I found Red early on in my fic reading via searching delicious tags for... well. Um. hooker!dean. AHEM. And once I started, I couldn't put it down.

I love her take on the Winchester Boys. She writes long plotty character-driven gen. Dazzleland broke my heart, btw, and it's kind of hard not to see it as canon. But Red is still my favorite of her stories, despite (or maybe because of) the fairy-tale influence. It flashes back and forth between the present (season one) and 2 time periods in Dean's past, tying them all together in devastating ways. Also, you'll learn a lot about the lumber business. Heh. One of the things I love most about her fic is the spot-on sense of place. Each fic breathes with detail, but doesn't get bogged down. I also have a soft spot for Old Rebel Yeller. But all the fic is great. I love her Dean, because she gets both his macho exterior and where it comes from, without making him into a dumbass. And her Sam is really spot-on s1 Sam. Go read!
