I've lived here too long. I was just thrown right out of an X-Files fic that had Scully making it by car from Georgetown to Takoma Park in fifteen minutes.

hahahhahahahhahahaha.

Some days, i IMAGINE it takes twice that long to even get out of Georgetown.

I have no idea why Scully and Mulder have an office in Takoma Park, that's nearly as unlikely as

The Lone Gunmen's office was in Takoma Park.

Still doesn't explain how they could get anywhere in 15 minutes, though. Maybe the rest of the world lost time. :)

Was it really? Really not where I'd imagine their office being. Well. Maybe. It's an independent, progressive, free-thinking kind of place, so that fits. It's also known as "The People's REpublic of Takoma Park," if that tells you anything.

It's just kind of a cute, cheery, hippy-ish place, too, and a weird fit with paranoia. Though that contrast might work well if you knew what you were doing, in a fic.

oh god, I really want to read that fic now.

Huh. I didn't know that about Takoma Park, but it does sound sort of weirdly appropriate.

it's mostly residential, which is why it doesn't quite fit with my mental image of their lair.
