I've lived here too long. I was just thrown right out of an X-Files fic that had Scully making it by car from Georgetown to Takoma Park in fifteen minutes.
hahahhahahahhahahaha.
Some days, i IMAGINE it takes twice that long to even get out of Georgetown.
I have no idea why Scully and Mulder have an office in Takoma Park, that's nearly as unlikely as the travel time. Though next time I'm there, I'm gonna be tickled, thinking of Mulder eating ice cream at the local homemade shop or lunch at Mark's Kitchen, or Scully shopping at the co-op for organic produce. Or maybe the farmer's market on Sundays. She so takes yoga classes at Willow Street Yoga. And meditates at Sangha, if they still do that -- I'm not sure they're still around, since I moved away from Takoma.
I miss Takoma Park, but it's an entirely un-Mulder type place. Scully, maybe, but... I still have a hard time seeing it. I would think that if they were booted out of the FBI they'd never be able to afford Takoma Park real estate. Maybe it was the Lone Gunman's office, that would be way more likely. But sadly I clicked out of the story and lost it, so I can't check.
eta:juniperphoenix informs me that the Lone Gunman's office lair was indeed in Takoma Park, so I must have misread that. Still, fifteen minutes, not so much.
