because I usually manage to conflate everything I like

into one giant epic *thing* in my head...

As I was walking home from the metro tonight, "Until the End Of the World," my all time favorite u2 song, came on the iPod. And I had a thought.  And now this song is my Tony/Steve theme.

I took the money
I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You led me on with those innocent eyes
You know I love the element of surprise
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You...you were acting like it was
The end of the world

One of my favorite versions of my favorite song:

[knowing this song was written from the pov of Judas to Jesus just makes it better, no? Because Tony certainly sees himself as Judas fairly frequently, I'd hazard, especially post-Civil War.]

here, more lyrics:

In my dream I was drowning my sorrows
But my sorrows, they learned to swim
Surrounding me, going down on me
Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret and waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
You...you said you'd wait
'til the end of the world

u2, iron man, i am a big ole geek
