The price of my self-declared vice is still creeping up. In fact, while I was in Chi, I saw a machine in a bar that sold single packs for 10.00.
A lot of people I know have dealt with the price hike by switching to ultra-premium non-corporate brands of tobacco...maybe it's am attempt to make every cigarette a pleasure and a luxury, the slow creep of misguided social awareness into consumer purchases, or a compromise between the health agenda and an addiction, I don't know.
i keep seing more and more people smoking "American Spirits" and the ersatz "injun" brand from Germany - "Manitou"...Either way I believe that if it was cheap tobacco, people would not care about the packaging with pseudo-healthful and enlightened copy.
.
Now, I can't really fault the Germans for latching on to an american trend, but somehow it feels a little inauthenticfrom the US.
After all, they did not put in the time killing millionsof Native Americans, so their spiritual connection to Native American spirituality of tobacco seems at best suspect. ...
I think I have a much better idea for reunified Deautchland tobacco, and one with serious anti-PC marketing potential in the US.
What the German cigarette manufacturers need to do is produce the cheapest possible cigarette for the US market, and call it something that they have had a hand in affecting. See what I'm saying? No?
Okay....I would buy them
Jewish Spirits
They're cheap. What are you complaining already?
:))))
