"Goodbye" Alenko/Shepard Mass Effect pic
My first "complete and not totally sketchy and messy" Mass Effect fanart would of course be of these two. Anyway, the full, complete pic and some wip shots lurk beyond.... (I'm also trying to get caught up with posting some art here, whoops)
So, this is the final image, even though of course now I can see little bits I forgot to polish, but that's okay, it doesn't take anything away from the image, so I'm okay with it.
So, how did this get started? Oh, just one of my random daily doodles. I liked the tenderness before the final end, just a quiet moment. They've already fought their way through a good chunk of London, so already worn and bruised but nowhere near the end of the line.
Of course I spent the most amount of time on their faces. I repainted Shepard's like... three times. She's actually based on my custom Shepard, but I gave her the slightly redder hair of the default Jane Shepard, so it could work either way.
I actually put a lot of time into the background as well, using sketchup and screenshots to help me out.
Any-hoo, it was a lot more work than I expected, but a lot of fun too :3 The nice thing about ME is the way they build up the characters, and make you latch onto them and make you want to know and understand them. So the majority of my ME fanart is probably going to focus on characters and relationships. Just sayin'.
I also learned a bit about coloring shiny armor. Fun times.
