One of the theories is that it comes from an old English or Germanic word that meant to push or insert. I can't find the reference online, but I recall their example was translated to modern English as "fucking seeds into the ground in springtime"
I'll give you dollar if you say - loudly - in some cafe or bookstore, "Man, I am so tired. I was fucking in the garden all day yesterday."
