I picked up two non-fiction "research" books at the library today and I realize I probably should have only gotten one considering they're are written by the same author and I might have ended up not liking his style of writing. Plus...two thick books means it will take me a long time to read them. The first one, which I've started reading already, is The Hanging Tree: Execution and the English People 1770-1868 by V.A.C Gatrell. So far, I don't have too much of a problem with his style, so good. The second book I got is City of Laughter: Sex and Satire in Eighteenth-century London.
Now, the reason I have research in quotations is because I'm not really reading for anything in particular. I have a faint idea in the back of my mind, but I'm looking for more before I start anything (not to mention I have to finish something else first) and these books popped up when I was looking around Amazon.
Of course, on top of these two hardcover books, I picked up a couple of fantasy ones -- also hardcover and thick. *sigh* Lots of reading in my future I guess. :-)
