Romance at the IKEA Store
Jin feigned interest in what the other was talking about, mostly distracted by his melodic voice and sweet looks. It was his seventh time in that particularly IKEA Store and his blessed fifth time helped by the sweet assistant; at least he had a thousand of excuses to give to be able to look for his help. He grinned, he had met Kazuya two months ago and he was totally taken by his voice, his manners, his kindness and his elegant beauty.
Two months ago…
Jin was in need of buying some furniture for his new apartment, having moved recently from Los Angeles to Tokyo to help his father with his business in the Main Branch in Japan. His friends had suggested, maybe jokingly, that he should buy something at IKEA and he thought that it might not be such a bad idea. Of course, he had been too wrong on that, and now he was lost in the huge apartment store.
He sighed frustrated because he was so sure that he was far away from the things he wanted for his luxurious apartment in Ginza.
“Ano, do you want some help?” He heard a sweet voice behind him and turned around, a scowl on his face and a mean remark because yes, he needed help and it would have been nice some help an hour ago! But his words got stuck in his throat when he saw an angel in front of him.
The guy, who looked younger than him, had his brown hair in a ponytail, with some strands of hair falling softly over his face, his thin eyebrows being a perfect frame for his beautiful face. What he could see of his skin was a flawless white, like snow and he had a curious and gentle expression on his face. The traditional yellow uniform of the brand didn’t supress his beauty nor hid totally his slender and alluring figure.
So he stood there, gaping like a fish trying to form the right words to express himself without scaring the beautiful apparition in front of him.
“Are you okay?” The pretty guy asked while giggling softly and he used all his power to not drool because, truly, it must be the most wonderful sound ever. He cleared his throat, finally finding his voice and tell him what he needed, all the while fighting a blush that wanted to take over his face.
And now he just couldn’t stop himself from visiting the store, even if it was to buy useless things that he would never assemble, not that he assemble anything of what he bought before, he has people to do it for him. But he enjoyed the other’s company and having all his attention for himself, actually going to the extent of ignoring other’s store clerks help because they weren’t Kazuya, just like when he found out the other’s name.
“Excuse me sir, do you need anything?” Someone asked him the second time he was at IKEA, and he turned, excited at the prospect of seeing the beautiful assistant once again, but was disappointed when he found a rather plain guy and not his angel.
“No, nothing, thanks” He replied uncaringly making the other frown “What?” He asked harsher than intended.
“It’s just that, you do seem lost sir” The clerk lifted an eyebrow at him but he shrugged.
“I’m just looking around” Jin answered and was about to leave when another voice he recognized joined them.
“Maru!” He heard and turned to look at the beautiful assistant, jogging his way towards them with a happy smile. He felt a smile tugging at his lips, but tried to keep his cool, after all, he has a reputation!
“Kame” The plain guy, Maru, answered to the other and gave him a gentle smile, making his insides churn and a feeling of possessiveness made its way towards his heart. The angel was his! “Did all go well with the costumers?” He asked at the angel, Kame, nodded in happiness.
“Yes, but now they need you. That if you aren’t too busy” Kame glanced at the other guy and Jin noted his long eyelashes and his hazel eyes.
“No, I’m not, he was just looking…”
“I’m looking for something for my, ah, brother” The costumer interrupted with a smile, now that Kame was here, he wouldn’t let the opportunity slip. Of course, that got him a frown from the other assistant, but he ignored it when Kame smiled.
“Got it! Let me help you! Maru, you go and attend the other family, ne~” He requested to his friend and the dark haired male nodded, still watching him weirdly before leaving “So, now is it for your brother? How did it go with what you bought the other day?” Kame casually asked making the older male look at him surprised.
“You remember?” He asked, feeling pleased with himself, especially at the pretty blush that covered the other’s cheeks.
“Well, yeah, you bought quite a lot” He said and pouted, making the other laugh.
“It went well. By the way, what kind of name is ‘Kame’? Are you a turtle?” He couldn’t help but tease the other, his pout was just too cute and tempted him to kiss it away.
“No” Kame replied with a roll of his eyes “That’s my nickname which comes from my surname” He grinned, happy for being able to talk properly with the other.
“And what would your name be? So I won’t have this mental image of my advisor in furniture being a turtle” Kame chuckled at that and his eyes shone with amusement.
“That’s a funny mental image” He laughed and Jin grinned, making a victory dance “Well, if you must know, my name is Kamenashi Kazuya”
Kazuya, that was a nice name and he couldn’t wait to get to know more about Kazuya.
“Well, Kazuya” He made a point by calling the other by his given name and enjoyed the pink blush that provoked “I’m Akanishi Jin, and it’s a pleasure to meet you”
Now he was buying something for one of his best friends, or so he had said to Kazuya. The assistant had his hair styled in a half ponytail and was wearing dark jeans, a pink t-shirt and a yellow apron with the logo of the store.
“Akanishi-san!” The younger called him and he realized that he had been staring at him for quite a while, enough for the other to note it “You aren’t paying attention to me, are you?” He puffed his cheeks and Jin, not able to contain himself, laughed at the childish reaction. Even if the other was just two years younger than him, making him 26, he was rather childish once he felt comfortable around people, and that thought made his stomach flutter.
“Sorry, sorry” He chuckled and tucked a rebellious strand of hair that didn’t allow him to see Kame’s face completely, behind his ear. The other blushed at his action. “I got kind of distracted thinking of other things” He sighed, missing the other’s worry look.
“What? Is there something wrong at your company?” The assistant asked with genuine worry laced in his words and Jin enjoyed the sincere concern he was showing.
Talking with Kame, he had found that he was studying Marketing and even enjoyed things related to entrepreneurship and finances, so they soon found themselves bonding over that. Not that Jin truly enjoyed those kinds of things, he liked the idea of partying forever, but he had responsibilities and because of his experience as an heir, there were plenty of things to talk about. And of course, Kame has recognized who he was, but still talked normally to him and he liked that a lot.
“Don’t worry, it’s nothing” Jin once again chuckled “Back to the topic, you think he will like this?” He asked pointing at the bookshelf the younger one had been rambling about. Kame didn’t seem convinced by the change of subject but he let it go, even if he liked Jin, they were nothing.
“I am sure” He nodded, forgetting about his dark thoughts and felt pleasured when the other gave him a bright grin.
“Then I’m taking it” Jin answered happy at the other’s laugh. The other nodded and soon, both of them left with Jin’s purchase.
“So…a bookshelf” A young Japanese male with dark hair and tanned skin was looking at the box of an assemble-yourself bookshelf with a blank look.
“Yes” Jin Akanishi told his best friend with an amused grin, at which Yamashita Tomohisa, or Yamapi, sighed exasperated.
“May I ask why?” The shorter of the two asked lifting one eyebrow “And do you truly expect me to assemble it? Why do I even want another bookshelf?”
“Don’t start whining” Jin rolled his eyes “You can have one of your employers assemble it for you, you know? And you have tons of books, you can find it some use”
“I think I know” Another male joined their conversation, his Osaka accent colouring through his speech “You’ve been spending too much time in that IKEA store, haven’t you?” He grinned wide when Jin attempted to hit him.
“So, another excuse to see that cutie you’ve been talking about!” Yamapi almost yelled and laughed “You truly should just invite him out before you end up buying the entire store!”
Jin, annoyed and embarrassed because of his friends’ teasing, did the most mature thing to do at the moment…he pouted, which, of course, prompted more teasing from his friends’ part. He knew, very deep inside and never intending to say out aloud, that they were right. Usually Jin went straight to the point whenever he liked a girl and, back in the day, he had had his share of guys as well, but not once had he felt the attraction he felt towards Kazuya.
Thinking about the younger boy made him smile happily and a warm feeling settling in his chest, it was the first time he have ever felt like that and he was a little lost at what to do. That was the reason of why he went to that store time and time again, to see the other’s blinding smile and hear his nice voice, because he couldn’t work up the courage to ask him out in a date.
“Alright! Let’s do it!” He heard Yamapi and saw him with a determined expression on his face, and Ryo was nodding in agreement to whatever his best friend had said.
“Wait, what?” He asked sweating, maybe he shouldn’t have babbled about Kame non-stop in front of his asshole friends…
…And once again Jin thought that he should find other best friends and with his money and reputation, he was sure that wasn’t going to be difficult, because his current best friends were now following him while he looked for his little IKEA angel.
“We are finally meeting him!” Yamapi exclaimed excited and he sighed, anxious and half praying to not find Kame that day. Ryo grinned by his side.
“I can’t wait for it either” His eyes shone with mischief and that, somehow, worried Jin more than Yamapi’s big mouth.
“Oh! Akanishi!” Someone yelled, more amused than surprised, and Jin turned towards the source of the voice, finding Koki, one assistant that looked more like a gangster than an IKEA worker, and Maru, the two of them walked towards them.
“Akanishi- SAN” He said rolling his eyes with an amused grin “Don’t you have any kind of manners?” He asked the blond who, as an answer, just punch him lightly in the arm. Those months practically stalking Kame make him somewhat close to the others store clerks, and he liked them just fine, unless they interrupted his time with his angel.
“Looking for my little Kame?” Koki asked with a grin, earning a smack, courtesy of Nakamaru “Aww, Yuichi! That hurt!”
“He is not your ‘little Kame’ Koki, behave” The older rolled his eyes.
“But he is our son! You are his mama and I am his papa!” The gangster wannabe said grinning, making Maru face palm himself.
“Akanishi-san” He turned to Jin, deciding to ignore his boyfriend and co-worker “I see you brought some friends with you” He looked behind him and bowed “Pleased to meet you” He smiled.
“Pleased to meet you~” Yamapi answered while Ryo just waved his right hand “I am Yamashita Tomohisa, but please, call me Yamapi, kon” The man smiled and made a weird motion with his hands, then he signalled at the shorter man “And this is Nishikido Ryo, kon, we are friends with this idiot” The others grinned, especially at Akanishi’s pout.
“Stop bullying me” He mumbled, unhappy. He knew it was going to be hell for him if his friends and the IKEA’s workers meet.
“Eh? Akanishi-san!” He heard a soft voice call behind them, turning around, he saw the two youngest of the store’s team, Taguchi Junnosuke and his angel, Kazuya.
“Kazu” He whispered, smiling, unaware of the teasing smiles of the guys surrounding him “How are you?” He asked once the other stopped in front of him with a soft smile.
“Fine, thank you” The light haired guy bowed, a big smile showing on his face “What about you? Have you slept well?” He asked, narrowing his eyes with a cute pout on his face. Last time they’ve seen each other, Akanishi told him that he had had some troubles getting enough rest.
The older of the two laughed, in order to cover how touched he was for the gesture and how much he wanted to grab the other and hug him tight. But their little and blissful world got shattered by the whistles and ‘wuu’s of their friends.
“You guys are so cute!” Yamapi shouted, delighted “So, this is Kazuya! He indeed is so cute Jin!” He smirked and waved to the confused guy, who was looking at him frowning.
“So, you brought your friends…” He started, but gasped in surprise when he saw the shorter man “Eh! But it is…” He recognized him, it was impossible to not know his best friend’s boyfriend.
He couldn’t say it out loud, though, because he was interrupted by said man.
“It was about time we meet him! And Yamapi is right, he is so cute! At least now we can agree with what you’ve been telling us about him!” He practically yelled, attracting the attention of some other costumers.
“Yes, yes, by the way you talk about him, one would have thought you were dating!” Yamapi followed, taking pleasure of the two blushing faces.
Giving the commotion, Kame hoped that his friends would put a stop to this madness, he couldn’t move, too embarrassed because of it, although he felt hope as well. So, Akanishi talked about him with his friends?
Jin was gritting his teeth, blushing and frustrated, he was going to kill them, slowly and painful deaths, he could see it already.
“Eh? So, Akanishi does that too?” Luck wasn’t on his side, Kame thought, when he heard Koki’s voice joining the teasing “Kame just talks and talks about Akanishi! He has such a HUGE crush on him! I swear!” He laughed. There wasn’t any malice on their voices, they just wanted their friends to be honest with each other and just start dating, for their mental health as well, because they were sure they’ll go mad if they heard another word of their frustrating love story.
Kame was sure he was redder than a tomato, and he hated those, he covered his face with his hands. It was true that he talked a little too much about Jin, and that he liked him, but it was something he wasn’t comfortable broadcasting to the whole world, especially in front of Akanishi Jin himself.
Jin was blushing as well, but if Kame’s friends were anything like his, and he knew they were, then it meant that it was true. Kame talked about him and maybe, just maybe, he felt the same way too. A smile started to make its way on his face.
“Kazu” He moved closer to the other, who was still hiding his face with his hands “Kazu” He chuckled, his little turtle was very cute “Is that true?” He waited some seconds before the other nodded his face still behind his hands. Jin laughed, feeling a bubbling happiness inside his chest.
Kazuya moved his hands off his face and looked at the older under his lashes, not daring to face him completely but his laugh had taken him off-guard.
“And you?” He asked shyly “Do you talk about me that much with your friends?” He hadn’t even finished his question when Jin eagerly nodded, happiness obvious on his features.
“You are so cute! The cutest!” Akanishi said. Kazuya chuckled, to him, Jin was the cutest but he wouldn’t go against his word, he felt warmth and happy “So, now that we both know we have a somewhat crush on each other” He smirked, Kazuya’s already pink face turned red again, that suited him “Would you go out with me?”
The others who had been quiet and expectant, erupted in shouts and whistles, after all, they knew they had been dancing around each other for months now and it was about time Jin popped the question! Yamapi high-fived all of them, Ryo smirked, Koki cried fake tears and Nakamaru and Taguchi smiled. But Kame didn’t note any of that, too focused on the other’s eyes.
“Sure” He replied and grinned. He was happy, more than happy, he was ecstatic.
Jin’s already big smiled got bigger at his little angel’s answer. They’ll start dating, they’ll start dating and he will be able to hold him close and, he looked at the other happy face, he was never, ever, going to let him go.
