In which a journey is commenced

Well, we are on our way. It was several days travel to Haalkitaine, but it was mostly uneventful.

However, there was one strange incident. A few days after leaving Gryphon College, we ran into a group of soldiers heading north, carrying a standard with a Phoenix on it. It required fast talking on our part to not be forced to accompany them - on the way to the ‘King’.

Now, I am well aware that there are two who call themselves King in Rhakhaan, I am not sure which one they were talking about. But all in all, I think it is far better to avoid these domestic conflicts as much as possible.

(Until, of course, Zaris or some Loremaster or whoever demands that we intervene and sort out the mess. But hopefully that won’t be for a while. I do, however, feel it is inevitable. We just seem to be having that kind of luck. But I digress once again.)

As per our instructions, once we reached Haalkitaine, we then asked around in the merchant’s district, and obtained further directions to a town called Swink. This is the way the merchant’s travel, over the mountain pass, and it is the longer but safer way. However at this time of year there are apparently snow beasts wandering around, so we will have to see what happens when we arrive there. Which will be this evening, and I am looking forward to sleeping in a bed again before we set off over (or under) the mountain.
