Back from the Big Apple!

Ahhhh yes. The great New York Adventure! I won't be able to convey all the fun we had in a simple blog entry, but I will attempt to fill you in on the highlights, at least.

We arrived Thursday morning, and immeadiately dumped our stuff off at the hotel and head to Greenwich Village/Meatoacking District for lunch. We ate at a super yummy French bistro and sat outside and soaked up the sun. It was lovely! We spent the afternoon puttering around the Village and Soho. After a little rest at the hotel, we spent the evening in Times Square and loitered. We also got in trouble by the hotel for being loud in our room. Awesome!
Friday we had a tour scheduled at Sirius Satellite Radio. We were able to sit in on the last hour of The Frank DeCaro Show (featuring the lovely Doria Biddle) and afterwards we had a tour of the place. It was a blast! We then went to the Shake Shack for lunch, cuz Frank said it was yummy. (and it was!) The afternoon was Chinatown and Little Italy, were we were assulted by small Asian women to purchase handbags and DVDs. It was fun. We also found an Aji Ichiban snack shop and bought a ton of Asian treats that we can't get here. YUM! We went to Ground Zero and walked around, and finished up the evening in Times Square.
Saturday we met a pal at Café Europa (Cheryl who used to be on Sirius) and enjoyed chat and pastries. Afterwards, we head to Brooklyn for the Cherry Blossom festival. It was lovely! We then came back into the city and snagged tickets to see Avenue Q and had a hoot! We finished the day with S'mores at Cosi, a tradition for us!
Sunday was the Museum of Natural History, stolled thru Central Park and enjoyed street vendor snacks, and then we went to the Upper East Side in search of a Japanese Toy Store I was told about. After some gelato and much walking, we found it. The rest of the afternoon was spent resting at the hotel before an awesome Thai dinner and the Broadway show "Wicked". 3 of us then walked around Times Square endlessly in search of a diner that was open. They city that never sleeps- ha! Momma wanted some French fries at 1 am!
Monday we enjoyed breakfast at our favorite place, the Moonrock Diner. We said goodbye to NYC and head to the airport.
The city is a wild, exciting place. I was amazed how many people asked *us* for directions. Did we look like locals? Luckily, we were armed with our maps and we were able to help lost people find their way. I took over 300 pictures and not a single one can re-create the fun and exictement we had in that hustling, bustling place. It's always nice to come home to the slower side of life. Instead of shutting the windows to block out the sounds of car horns, we shut them because the birds are chirping too loudly! (at 4 am…I mean…come on!) I don't know if I could ever live there. Maybe for a year, to get the full experience of the city and all it has to offer. And of course, Neelah would have to learn to be a city dog. :o)
