6 Hourse of Separation
About 6 hours and 6 minute. That is what Google maps timed for driving from our house in Carrollton [Dallas] TX to Amarillo TX. Today Mark was offered and took a job in West Texas A & M University. As of August 20th that will be the distance between us.
Amarillo Texas -
The brain - This is the right move for his career, allowing him to step into teaching in higher education. Financially, this will allow him to not take student loans while he finishes his doctorate degree at UNT [University of North Texas] and maybe even start paying off the ones he already took.
The heart - doesn’t really give a rat’s ass about all of the above. I want. No, I need him here. As it is, I find myself missing him during the day at work. Now he won’t be home when I get there at the end of the day.
[Deep breath] All will sort itself out with time I am sure. We’ll see each other at least every other weekend and on holidays. I might work from there [Amarillo] for a week at a time every couple of weeks.
“I am about to say something I NEVER thought I ever will” I said to my co-worker. She looked at me with a curious look and anticipation, as if I am about to unveil something dark and sassy about myself or someone else that no one else yet knows. [Silent] “I just spent $400 to travel to AMARILLO Texas this weekend”. She laughed…and I laughed with her, because that’s the thing to do when everything is about to change, some for the better, some for the worse but all for good.
