Gardening! I did gardening!

Two years ago, I had Husband remove the overgrown AWFUL bushes in front of the house.  I hated those bushes.  I was going to plant the front garden with vegetables and flowers...ALL the flowers.

Then, last year, well, not so much.  This year I bought All The Seeds and planted them in flats in the house as seedlings.

Above in the lower left is where the cats have DEMOLISHED the cat grass...

The front garden preparation just seemed daunting, though.  As you can see at Elf's feet (this was the Attack on Titan costume that Elf wore to Anime Central last weekend), the front garden was One Big Weed:

But on Sunday, Jenn was here and wanted to sit outside.  I started weeding and de-rocking the front garden, and roped Jenn into helping.  We weeded the whole thing and got THREE kitty litter buckets filled with the rocks that had been under the bushes.  It took us about 3 hours together.  See how awesome???

Last night I went to the nursery and got PLANTS.  Tonight, with Ben helping as Water Boy and General Gofer, I got over 80 plants in the ground:

-48 Alyssum plants
-4 Larkspur/Delphinium plants
-16 marigolds
-the lettuce plants I started inside (these will probably die)
-the cucumber from inside
-the squash plants from inside
....those have all been transplanted.

You can see the little plastic planters on the steps; those have basil and marigolds in them...we'll see if any of it grows (the seeds are very old)!  I also like the hanging plant I got!  As you can probably tell, the garden, except the marigolds and wildflowers, is LARGELY purples and blues.  LOVELY!

Isn't it PRETTY!!!!

I ALSO put in sugar snap pea seeds (probably too late in the season already), more cucumber and squash seeds, and larkspur seeds. When I am re-energized and have more potting soil, I need to get the flower seeds I already have and want to plant in the front garden in order to fill it with wild color...Columbine, forget-me-nots, wildflowers, flax...  I'm also going to sprinkle all the harvested zinnia seeds in the side bed and cover it with 2-3" of potting soil so they'll light up the side of the house with color as well.  ...I don't plan to deal with the clover till the zinnias are dead, but I'll need to dig up all the daffodils and space them out at the end of the season:

I re-planted my flats with the rest of my lavendar seeds, my ancient marigold seeds (probably won't grow, but they are outside in the containers that were the marigolds plants), and planted new cat grass in new planters since the cats not only ate but **ripped out the roots** of the previous batch (those are also outside till I can decide where to put them). I even got the mud washed off the porch and front walk!

I really love the seedling flats, though I've got to get over the urge to WAY overplant them. I also love the nitrile-dipped stretchy garden gloves. Fantastic things, those!!

My feet were frozen and filthy when I was done.

I soaked in the tub until the feeling returned to my feet and have now taken ibuprofen and naprosyn because...ow.

I'm so so happy we pulled out those awful bushes!

And tomorrow night is POTTERY!!!!
