In response to the
Character meme, here are the last four sets of answers based on the requests so far. ETA: And I thought I avoided reading answers for Booth & Brennan...but apparently not entirely (I know I read
yahtzee63's Brennan, but I think I avoided her Booth as well as
tempertemper77's answers.... < /ETA>
Amanda King for
evil_overlord1. Again with someone where "like" isn't adequate.
2. For Amanda's sake, I would like her not to have to lie to her family anymore; I would like to change the whole "secret marriage" thing. I can't think of anything about HER I'd like to change per se.
3. Her stepping out on the back porch, wiping suds off her hands, and tossing the hand towel over her shoulder, smiling at Lee.
4. "Mandy" by Barry Manilow, though she hates it and has been DONE with people singing it or referencing it at her since about a week after it came out.
5. white
6. Lee Stetson. Duh. Canon-whore here and the show handed it to us. Yay!
7. Amanda needs to hear that she is a damn good agent and that the Agency is lucky to have her, unorthodox though she may sometimes be. Lee tells her this regularly, but she thinks he's tremendously biased. The day Francine says it, though, will mean the world.
8. She always dreamt of the house with the white picket fence, a couple of kids she would take to Little League and dance classes...and has always been sorry that she forgot to include the presumed husband in her mental picture more strongly, thinking that maybe being more explicit about that dream might have made Joe stay.
9. A teacher, preferably pre-school to third grade, and also a mom. In college, studying American Literature, she flirted with teaching high school, but she and Joe were already serious and she was more committed to starting a family.
10. When her father died, Amanda was 15 and she and Dotty had one of the only screaming fights of their lives...over which tie he should wear in his coffin.
Seeley Booth for
yahtzee63 1. I do like him very much, though occasionally I roll my eyes at his alpha-ness. I do appreciate that the alpha thing always comes second to being a good person, which is why I just roll my eyes rather than wanting to damage him.
2. I'd like to have him be able to acknowledge his feelings of inadequacy around Brennan and the squints, but typically his strong sense of personal accomplishment and competence and his quite healthy ego prevent him from acknowledging that he does feel inadequate or undeserving in the circumstances where he does so.
3. I can't decide if it's most the running down the hill and to the car or the charm smile. I think the latter.
4. Is there some song by Bruce Springsteen with the word "run" or "running" in it? Maybe something like "Born to Run"? I don't know what the song sounds like, but that concept was the first to pop into my head.
5. gunmetal gray
6. I admit that I've been won over to the Booth/Brennan side of the shipping. I do, however, not feel that they are The One And Only For Each Other (I'm not sure I believe that exists, even in fiction) nor that I think they would work in the long haul for sure. I enjoy him with Cam (though they're not suited to long-term), and I think that he would love to have another child or three who he could live with and watch grow up. I think that he could potentially have a good relationship with Perotta. I would NOT ship him with Hodgins, Sweets, Zack, Angela, Caroline...
7. Booth needs to hear that Brennan needs him more than she needs anything at this point in her life--and needs to hear that he needs to tell her that he will not ever leave of his own volition and will fight any attempt to get him to leave with every fiber of his being. Angela needs to say this to him and that he would definitely listen.
8. Booth's main dreams are of the people he killed and of being too late to save people he's set out to save. He also has highly erotic dreams about Brennan, but keeps them polite enough not to be a sleaze in his own mind.
9. Booth wanted to be a cop or a firefighter--someone who saved people and got to be heroic. He feels he has, in large part, failed at being this, although there are days when he feels he's done it right.
10. Booth's most cherished memory of his mother is of her sitting on his bed, stroking his hair as he fell asleep.
Temperance Brennan for
tempertemper77 1. I adore her, stubbornness, social awkwardness, arrogance, brilliance, beauty, flaws, and all.
2. I would like it if she could, even just sometimes, cut herself a little slack and be able to accept something she's done wrong just because it is, not because she's picked it apart to death and found herself lacking (and I'd like to see HOW she does this so I can try it!).
3. The little lines between her eyebrows when she's confused or thinking.
4. "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" or "Goodbye to Love" by the Carpenters
5. copper...and lab-coat blue
6. Booth. Angela. NOT anyone else on the show.
7. Brennan most needs to hear that, to those near her (Booth, squints, her family) she is loved and valued for who she is over what she does and how smart she is. Either Booth or Angela could say this, but she won't ever fully believe it.
8. Brennan dreams of bones and graves and identifying remains. She also dreams of being alone, curled up into herself in total darkness, with no one to be seen or heard, believing that no one will come for her, that no one will be able to break through that silence and darkness and all she has to hold onto is her own body.
9. Archaeologist by day, cabaret performer by night.
10. The foster home that was hardest for her to leave, and that she had to fight hardest not to cry over (because she never cried when she was moved), was the one where the family mutt had slept clandestinely on her bed every night from the first one she spent there.
Lance Sweets for
partly 1. I like him...mostly, but he often drives me crazy.
2. The thing I would most like to change is structural rather than character-driven. I would like him NOT to be in places where he has no business being just for the sake of having him in scenes (though the last few eps have done a good job at NOT having him there just for the hell of it--he's been at interrogations and such). I would also like to see him do FAR LESS of the nudging with Booth and Brennan and the Deep Meaning of their relationship; I think he does far more harm than good in general.
3. Those way-too-red lips
4. "Lime in Da Coconut" is too obvious and easy...and the next one I thought of was "(Just Call Me) Angel of the Morning, Baby."
5. blue
6. I like him with Daisy. I would not ship him with Cam or Booth or Brennan or Hodgins. I could maybe ship him with Mr. Nigel-Murray.
7. Back. Way. Off. And stay out of things that don't concern you--even if you think they do. I think that either Cam or Angela needs to say it and I think he'd be rather confused about what anyone saying that meant (unless it was maybe Caroline); I think he, by turns, truly believes he's helping and is too caught up in his own fascination with his area of study to notice that he's being out of line and/or annoying.
8. Sweets has dreams where he slays dragons and rescues fair maids--either based on D&D structure, games, Star Trek, or other paradigms where he gets to be a Big Damn Hero (preferably with a sword, but a phaser will suffice in other worlds).
9. Little Lance wanted to be a train conductor...on an old steam engine, complete with the cool outfit and cap
10. Sweets was an only child and begged for a pet until his folks got him a kitten...which promptly made his eyes swell shut. He then got a fish but rather hoped it would die.
