I went to the doctor, who dealt very well with me using the Husband as my sign-to-voice interpreter. Her 8th-grade son had even just learned sign for a play he was in. :-)
She said my lungs sound great (as usual). She said that the throat swelling is probably what's giving me the sense of struggling to breathe.
My glands are VERY swollen. I couldn't manage to explain in sign that that's because they're ALWAYS swollen and when they get MORE swollen they get huge.
They did a throat culture, and we'll check on the rest of the family if I come back positive for strep.
She said I'm doing all the right stuff (a gallon of water a day, ibu, etc.)
AND...::drum roll::...I have an EAR INFECTION. There is pus in my left ear.
Yay! I have anti-biotics and they will HELP!
I LOVE it when I actually have a measurable illness.
And I got to meet the other lady in the practice, who turns out to be as nice as my lady.
At least I have a BIT of a voice this afternoon, and I was able to swallow enough to eat lunch.
The voice didn't kick in till nearly 1pm, and so when Husband picks up my Rx at the Walgreen's, he'll probably ID himself as "the Deaf Lady's husband". :-)
