Sow Paulo

I'm in Sao Paolo now. Its my last stop before I head home and finish up this sortof-year of travelling. Well, actually I go to Rio first then come back here and go home, r maybe I'll go somewhere else too, then come back, but ultimately I fly out of Sao Paolo to NYC so0metime between now and June 2nd, which is one year after I started.

Sao Paolo was thoroughly dissed by everyone I talked to before I got here, but it's been pretty nice. The Hostel is decent, like a college group-house but a bit more quiet. At $16 a night I can stay here, have the included free gigantic breakfast, and blow $10 on a 3-course vegetarian feast for my second meal ad nauseum. Less than $500/month on 'rent' with breakfast every day is nice. I could probably find a way to make this work in an endless fashion, but I still plan to head home.

Traveling has been great, and the most liberating thing has been not having rent to pay back home. I highly recommend that to anyone who wants to travel. The fact is, you can do a lot more by freeing yourself.

Of course, now I am excited togo home and find a new bed of my own. A new place to live that is MY SPACE and not shared with hordes of hippies and college kids and not mooching off my super-generous friends and family.

Where the money will come from. Luckily I spent 6 years working a good job and saving money living below my means so even after this year of travel I am not hurting, but I'd like to have a clear direction an goal hen I get back.

I'll probably spend the summer working on personal creative projects and hope that one of them will whisk me away into a world of total satisfaction and financial solvency, but we'll see.

Hope all is well!

Joel
