Halloween Movie Countdown: Day 6 - Zombieland

Still catching up. This one counts as Tuesday. Not feeling well, but must complete the countdown!

As I'm thinking of these movies, I'm realizing just how much I do enjoy zombie movies. I'm sure most of you who are looking at the title of Young Wizards Handbook are going DUH! But (here's a spoiler for the countdown), there are no vampire movies in this list. While there are many I like (Blade, Underworld, Bram Stoker's Dracula), or like to make fun of (Twilight, Dracula 2000), I don't consider any of them HALLOWEEN movies. There should be a lightness, a fun, a silliness to Halloween movies that just doesn't tend to show up in Vampire movies. You may have noticed that, with the exception of Rob Zombie's Halloween, all the movies I've posted aren't traditional or even bad horror; they're either kids movies or tongue-in-cheek horror or very unique.

I wrote a review of Zombieland when I first saw it. I have to say, I'm still amazed at how much this movie lived up to my expectations; no better, no worse. Is it as good as Shaun of the Dead? Definitely not. It is, however, an AMERICAN Shaun of the Dead. Both movies show what I think would happen if zombies really did take over the world.

Favorite Quote: "Where are you, you spongy, yellow, delicious bastards?" (refers to Twinkies)

Favorite Scene: Anything outlining the "rules" of Zombie hunting. I had to be careful not to duplicate them in YWH!

Best Use of a Song: Hm, nothing's coming to mind. Been a while since I've seen this one.

Part of the movie not shown that I'd really like to see: More of a certain celebrity cameo as his/herself. Won't spoil it, it's just too funny if you aren't expecting this person.

Audience to share this with at a Halloween party: Like Shaun of the Dead, people who usually don't care for horror, but love a good comedy.

Costume Idea: good one if you want to go comfy and low prep time. Dress for the zombie apocalypse!
