Halloween Movie Countdown: Day 5 - Donnie Darko

Still catching up. This one counts as Monday. I need to step this up if I'm to get them all in by Halloween!

Today's movie isn't what most people would think of a Halloween movie. While creepy, it isn't particularly scary (it's one of those that, once you've seen the whole thing, ceases to be creepy). It does, however, take place around Halloween, so I'm qualifying it. Besides, it's an amazing movie. I have yet to see or read anything that is remotely like it.

Favorite Quote: "Sometimes, I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!"

Favorite Scene: The finale. Can't say any more because I don't want to spoil it. But it's very, very good, trust me.

Best Use of a Song: There's a lot of good ones in there. However, my vote has to go to Gary Jule's cover of Tears for Fears "Mad World" over the final scenes. And for those of you not familiar with 80s music, there's another Tears for Fears song (this time sung by the artist) in the movie as well. It's a great soundtrack, period.

Part of the movie not shown that I'd really like to see: It's a perfect movie. I do wish the trailer I have up was different. It just looks like any other horror movie. It is neither horror nor like any other movie in existence.

Audience to share this with at a Halloween party: People who like to think and who aren't drunk. You have to pay attention EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.

Costume idea from movie: Duh. Frank the rabbit!
