Adam's gone back to the island. Despite his projected acceptance and stoicism of all the death and loss that Fate's Handmaiden brought to the world, he doesn't live in the world anymore. Our island, that little place that we can only reach via teleportation - and yes, I'll write it here now because the way things are going there won't be any military or scientists or anyone around to study us or test us or poke at us or be afraid of us when it's all over. Anyway, Adam spends all his time at the island, when he's not here taking care of me.
He won't admit it anymore than he'll admit that he's half-afraid of this new world, but I'm taking care of him as well. He tried to get me to come back to the island with him, but I refused. Adam didn't ask why, which is probably a good thing. I wouldn't have had an answer for him.
