A random question for everybody on my f-list: what is your favorite version of the Cinderella fairy tale?
My mom loves Cinderella, so I've seen just about every version there is: the Disney animated one; Rogers and Hammerstein's musical (the 50s TV special with Julie Andrews, the 70s one in color with Leslie Ann Warren, and the 90s one with Brandy); "Ever After" with Drew Barrymore; "The Slipper and the Rose" musical; "A Cinderella Story", the Disney Channel one with Hillary Duff; "Another Cinderella Story", another Disney Channel one with Selina Gomez...
But my absolute favorite is the Muppets' "Hey, Cinderella!"
This was back when the Muppets were still awesome. Like other Muppet films, some characters are 'real' people, and some are muppets. But what makes this version my favorite is that Cinderella and the prince- Arthur Charming- meet as 'commoners' first. She doesn't know he's the prince, and when she gets to the ball, he doesn't know the 'Mysterious Princess' is Cinderella. So, when the king demands that he track down the princess and marry her, the prince drags his feet because he'd rather marry Cinderella, and Cinderella hides her other glass slipper because she'd rather marry Arthur!
Other high points are Kermit as the prince's confidant (when asked to serve as the carriage driver for Cinderella, he agrees, but only if he can stay a frog), a purple raddish-loving monster named Splurge ("Splurge! I didn't recognize you with your mask on!"), and a fairy godmother who can't make a pumpkin into a carriage (except just the once).

It's a great movie,so if you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend it (plus, I think it's still on YouTube).
