An alarm beeped softly at McGee’s desk, and everyone looked up.
“DiNozzo-”
“On it, boss.”
The bullpen screen lit up with a view of Times Square, and Tony turned up the volume until they could hear Ryan Seacrest begin the countdown to midnight, the noise of the New York crowd echoing in the empty office.
“Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Happy New Year!”
Ziva leaned over to kiss Gibbs’s cheek.
“Any New Year’s resolutions?” asked McGee, turning off the last strains of Auld Lang Syne.
“Catch more bad guys,” said Gibbs.
His team grinned, and got back to work.
