Cat on Lap
“Dominick?” called Erika, entering their private suite. “Are you in here?”
“Shh!” he said.
There was another noise, a loud rasping sound, and Erika followed it to find her husband sitting at his desk, looking slightly uncomfortable.
“Dominick?” she asked again. “Are you all right?”
“Yes. But I didn’t want to move him.”
Erika came around the side of the desk to see that one of Wolfie and Serafina’s kittens was curled up in Dominick’s lap, purring loudly.
She smiled. “He likes you.”
“I… guess I can get used to them,” said Dominick, and the kitten purred even more loudly.
