Things at Home: 3 humans, 2 ½ cats. All is well.
The half is a new outdoor cat - our neighbor up the lane volunteers with a group that feeds feral cats near where she works, but she found one that wasn’t wild. So, she brought him home and put him in the old horse barn to acclimatize. Except, he didn’t seem to like that much and decided he’d rather live under our deck. His name is Swirl (as in, Cinnamon) because he’s a brown tabby. He’s still pretty shy, but cats always love my mom :)
The other highlight this month was my birthday. I took two days off from work, went to the local used book store (found some Trek books I didn’t have), then came home for cake - Mom’s famous cheesecake (made with the recipe from the cream cheese package, lol) with a oreo crumb crust and strawberry & blueberry pie filling on top. Delicious! The only hitch was that our local Chinese place is closed on Tuesdays, so we hit the diner instead and had Chinese the next night (and the three after that - yay leftovers). I used the extra day off to sleep in extra late.
Things at Work: Same old, same old. We’re moving desks to the other building in the beginning of August, should be fun…
