“You know,” said Bucky, leaning back on the bed, “When I was in the Army, I thought it’d be me leaving a sweetheart behibd.”
Rhodey, straightening his uniform tie, arched an eyebrow at him in the mirror. “You’re my sweetheart now?”
“Waitin’ for my man to come home from war,” he grinned.
“I think I’d rather go to war than all these meetings,” said Rhodey, then turned, smiling. “I know you’re teasing me, but they are a little bearable, knowing you’re waiting for me.”
Bucky’s smile softened. “Least I can do for my best fella.”
Rhodey laughed and kissed him.
